Google Cloud Marketplace is a catalogue of AI agents, software and solutions validated by Google Cloud, alongside professional services from qualified providers. Purchases are made through the customer's existing cloud account, which is presented as a way to get trusted technology quickly while optimising cloud spend.

Billing through the cloud account is the mechanism that actually drives this market, and it is a procurement fact rather than a technical one. Buying third-party software through an existing supplier relationship avoids a new vendor onboarding process, and in a large organisation that process is measured in months, so the marketplace changes how fast something can be adopted.

Committed spend makes that stronger still. Where an organisation has agreed a spend commitment with the provider, marketplace purchases frequently count toward it, which means the software is effectively bought with money already promised.

Validation is the other half of the offer and its limits should be understood. Listing means the vendor has met the platform's requirements, not that the product suits your use, so evaluation is still the buyer's job even when procurement is not. The speed the marketplace provides is in purchasing, not in due diligence.
