What is Glassbox?

Glassbox provides digital experience analytics covering session replay of any digital session, mobile application analytics, product analytics tracking behaviour and engagement, interaction maps and heatmaps for on-page analysis, and an Augmented Journey Map.

The emphasis on mobile application analytics as a first-class capability rather than an extension is the distinguishing characteristic, and it matters because mobile is genuinely harder to analyse than web in ways that are easy to underestimate.

A website exposes its structure to the tools observing it. Pages have URLs, elements have identifiable positions, and a replay can be reconstructed from the document. A native mobile application has none of that. Screens are rendered by the operating system, there is no page concept, gestures rather than clicks carry the interaction, and the application may function offline and reconcile later.

The practical consequence is that many analytics products treat mobile as a secondary target with a thinner implementation, and organisations discover after purchase that their mobile experience, which is frequently where most customers actually are, is the part they can see least well.

Journey mapping across sessions addresses a different limitation. Analysing single sessions shows what happened in one visit, and customers do not behave in single visits: they research on a phone, return on a laptop, abandon, and complete a purchase days later. Understanding that requires stitching sessions into a journey, and single-session analysis systematically misattributes where a customer was won or lost.

Interaction maps and heatmaps serve the immediate question of what people did on a page, which remains the fastest way to understand whether an element is being seen at all.

Session replay underneath all of it provides the ability to watch what happened, which numbers alone never explain.

The immediate question of what people did on a page. Heatmaps remain the fastest way to establish whether an element is being seen at all, before analysing why it underperforms.
