Being the forwarder rather than selling software to forwarders is the structural difference and it determines the quality of the data. A visibility platform sitting on top of third party forwarders is dependent on whatever those forwarders choose to report, which is typically late and incomplete. A company handling the shipment itself knows where it is because it is the one moving it.

The customs suite is where that integration pays most. Customs clearance is where shipments actually get stuck, and separating brokerage from forwarding means the party who knows the cargo is not the party filing for it, which is how classification errors and delays arise.
