MAXQDA is qualitative data analysis software with unusually strong support for mixed methods work, combining qualitative coding with quantitative analysis in one application rather than requiring a separate statistics package.

Mixed methods research uses both approaches on the same question, and the practical difficulty has always been that the tools do not meet. A researcher codes interviews in one application and runs statistics in another, and connecting a qualitative theme to a quantitative variable means exporting, reformatting and hoping the cases still align.

Handling both natively removes that gap. Comparing what different demographic groups said, or testing whether a theme appears more often in one condition than another, becomes a query rather than a data export, which is the difference between an analysis being done and being intended.

The product is used widely in social science and health research, and licensing distinguishes students, academics and commercial buyers as the category generally does. No pricing was captured, so the applicable rate depends entirely on which of those categories a buyer falls into, and the gap between student and commercial pricing in this field is substantial.
