Snapchat Planets: Friend Solar System Order Explained (2026)

Snapchat Planets: Friend Solar System Order Explained (2026)

Updated October 2026: details taken from Snapchat’s help page. Friend Solar Systems are a Snapchat+ feature and are off by default for new subscribers.

Snapchat “planets” are part of the Friend Solar System, a Snapchat+ feature that shows where you rank in a friend’s Best Friends list. Best Friends are the eight friends someone Snaps and Chats with the most.

How to see your planet

  1. Subscribe to Snapchat+ and turn on Solar System on the Snapchat+ feature management page (it is off by default for first-time subscribers).
  2. Open a friend’s Friendship Profile.
  3. If you are one of their Best Friends, you will see a Best Friends badge with a gold ring. Tap it to see your planet.

What each planet means

Each planet is your position in that friend’s Best Friends list, in order from the Sun:

Planet Your position
Mercury #1 Best Friend
Venus #2
Earth #3
Mars #4
Jupiter #5
Saturn #6
Uranus #7
Neptune #8

Things to know

  • It shows your place in their list, not theirs in yours.
  • Rankings change as messaging habits change.
  • You can switch Solar System on or off at any time.
