Trellus works inside a sales platform to increase call output, with AI bots handling inbound calls and qualification and acting as practice tools for representatives, alongside call capability.

Using AI bots as practice partners is the more interesting of those two uses, and it addresses how sales calling is actually learned.

A new sales representative learns to call by calling. Their first hundred conversations are with real prospects, which means real companies form their impression of the business from someone who does not yet know what they are doing, and the representative burns through territory while learning.

Managers know this and the alternative is roleplay with a colleague, which suffers the same weakness described elsewhere in coaching: both parties know it is pretend, the colleague is not going to be genuinely difficult, and it happens rarely because it is uncomfortable for everyone.

A bot that responds as a real prospect might, including with objections, disinterest or hostility, can be practised against repeatedly at no cost to anyone. A representative can attempt the same opening twenty times and hear how each version lands.

Increasing call output is the other claim and it addresses a genuine constraint, since a representative's results are substantially a function of conversations held, and time lost to dialling, waiting and logging is time not spent talking.

The caution with output-focused tooling is that more calls made badly is not an improvement, which is presumably why practice and output capability appear in the same product.
