Tekla Structures from Trimble is model based construction software letting structural design engineers, detailers, fabricators, contractors and project managers create, combine, manage and share accurate models for every project.

Naming all five roles is the point rather than marketing breadth. Structural work fails at the handovers: an engineer designs, a detailer produces shop drawings, a fabricator makes steel and a contractor erects it, and each traditionally rebuilds the model in their own software. A single shared model that all five work from is what removes the transcription errors that reach site as steel that does not fit.

Fabrication level accuracy is what distinguishes Tekla from architectural BIM. A model detailed enough to drive a fabrication machine has to be correct to the bolt, which is a materially different standard from one that communicates design intent.
