What is TCExam?

TCExam is a free, open source computer based assessment system built in PHP, distributed under the GNU AGPLv3 license and self-hosted on a standard LAMP stack. Created by Nicola Asuni through Tecnick.com, it lets educators and trainers author, schedule, deliver, and report on quizzes and exams, with support for text, images, audio, video, and mathematical formulas within questions, and translations into 24 languages.

The system randomizes questions and answer order per test taker to reduce cheating, supports LDAP, RADIUS, and CAS authentication, and exports data in TSV, XML, and PDF formats. It can also generate printable exams with scannable OMR answer sheets for hybrid paper and digital testing. The free license has no cost, and a separate commercial license is available on request for organizations that need fewer restrictions.
