The problem on a typical WordPress site is that images are uploaded by people who are not thinking about file size, straight from a phone or a camera, at dimensions far larger than any page displays. Nobody notices until the site is slow, and by then there are thousands of them.

Optimising the existing library retroactively is therefore as important as handling new uploads. A plugin that only compresses what arrives from today leaves the accumulated problem in place, and it is the accumulation that is making the site slow.

PDF optimisation alongside images is an unusual inclusion and a practical one. Sites serving documents host files that are frequently enormous for no reason, and those downloads consume bandwidth and patience in the same way oversized images do. The vendor sells both credit packs, which suit a one off cleanup of an existing library, and monthly plans for sites with continuous upload volume, and those two shapes fit very different situations.
