Optimole optimises images and video and delivers them through a global content delivery network, adapting quality to the visitor's connection rather than applying one compression level to everyone. That adaptive behaviour is what separates it from a compression plugin.

Compressing an image once produces a single file that is too heavy for a phone on a weak mobile connection and needlessly degraded for a desktop on fibre. Serving different versions according to conditions gets both cases right, which a static optimisation pass cannot do however well it is tuned.

Delivering through a network rather than the origin server compounds that. The image arrives from somewhere geographically near the visitor, which removes latency that no amount of file size reduction addresses, and it takes the bandwidth off the hosting plan at the same time.

Automatic video compression is included alongside images, which matters because video is where a page's weight now concentrates. A single unoptimised background video outweighs every image on a page combined.
