IDBS E-WorkBook

E-WorkBook is IDBS' electronic laboratory notebook for research, discovery and development, sitting alongside Polar for data foundations, PIMS for manufacturing and ActivityBase for discovery, with GxP solutions, integrations, inventory and a platform accelerator library, as part of Danaher.

Covering the whole path from research to manufacturing is what separates IDBS from general purpose notebooks, and in biopharma that path is the hard part. A process developed at bench scale has to be transferred to pilot and then to commercial manufacturing, and every parameter, deviation and decision along the way has to be traceable, because the regulator will ask how the commercial process relates to the one that produced the trial material.

The E-WorkBook application list reads as a bioprocessing product rather than a chemistry one, naming upstream and downstream processing, cell line development, bioanalysis, process characterisation and tech transfer, which is a specific and demanding kind of laboratory work where the experiment is a run of a living system rather than a reaction.

GxP solutions being called out separately reflects the real cost of this category, since validating software for regulated use is a project in its own right and often exceeds the licence cost, so a vendor arriving with validation documentation and accelerators is removing work rather than adding a feature. IDBS serves CDMOs, CROs, agriculture, consumer goods, food and beverage, energy and industrials. Rates are not published.
