CDD Vault

CDD Vault is a scientific data management system for drug discovery, with core functionality covering registration, activity visualisation, assays and biologics, and add-ons including an electronic laboratory notebook, inventory, dose response curves and AI automation, hosted in the United States or the European Union.

Treating the notebook as an add-on rather than the product is the structural decision and it is the right way round for this science. In small molecule discovery the durable asset is the compound registry and the assay results attached to it, because that data outlives every project and every scientist, whereas the notebook records how a particular experiment was run.

Collaboration is in the company's name and it names the real problem in modern discovery, since a biotech typically runs its chemistry at one contract research organisation, its assays at another and its analysis in house, so the data has to be shared selectively with parties that must not see each other's work. That is an access control problem as much as a data one.

Offering separate United States and European Union hosting is a specific and unglamorous feature that decides purchases, because a European pharmaceutical company's legal team will often not approve research data held in the United States regardless of how good the software is.
