What is Marvelous Designer?
Marvelous Designer is 3D clothing design software used to draft 2D patterns and simulate them in 3D with realistic fabric behavior. Its physics-based simulation system lets designers adjust elasticity, weight, and density so materials behave like real fabrics, from flowing silk to stiff denim, with real-time draping, wind simulation, collision handling, and pressure and tearing effects as garments move on a character.
The software is sold by subscription rather than as a one-time purchase. A Personal license costs $39 per month or $280 per year, with separate Student, Academic, and Network Online (enterprise) subscription tiers. As of December 2025, the previous Enterprise Standalone license was discontinued in favor of Network Online subscriptions. A 14-day free trial with full features is available, and exported garments are compatible with Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, Unity, and Unreal Engine.
