Intelerad

Intelerad Medical Systems provides medical image management for hospitals, health systems and imaging groups, covering enterprise imaging, PACS, radiology workflow and image sharing across distributed practices.

Distributed reading is the problem Intelerad is built around and it is a different one from single-site PACS. A radiology group covering twenty hospitals needs studies from any site to reach whichever radiologist is available and appropriately credentialed, which is a routing and worklist problem more than a storage one.

That shape reflects how radiology has consolidated, since independent hospital departments have increasingly given way to groups and teleradiology providers reading remotely, and software written for one hospital's reading room does not serve an organisation whose radiologists are never in the building.

Image sharing between organisations is the related capability and the harder one, because sending a study to another provider has historically meant a disc in an envelope, and every failed transfer means a repeated scan the patient did not need. Rates are not published. Alongside the core engine, Intelerad covers archive and storage management, teleradiology support, reporting and analytics and cloud and on-premises deployment, which is the practical surface a team works with day to day.
