Fujifilm Synapse

Synapse PACS is Fujifilm's picture archiving and communication system, positioned around speed and optimised reading experiences, sold alongside Fujifilm's diagnostic imaging hardware including digital radiography detectors, mobile DR systems and RF rooms.

Being an imaging manufacturer as well as a software vendor is the distinguishing position, and it produces a practical advantage in procurement rather than a technical one. A hospital replacing detectors and the archive together can buy both from one supplier with one integration responsibility, which removes the argument that follows when an image does not arrive.

Optimising for speed is the right claim to lead with for the same reason it is for every PACS, since the constraint in radiology is radiologist time rather than storage or bandwidth, and a system that saves a few seconds per study returns hours across a department each week.

The hardware range around it, from mobile DR systems to long-length imaging, indicates the departments Fujifilm expects to serve, and a hospital evaluating the software alone should still ask how much of the value depends on running Fujifilm equipment. Integration with the radiology information system and the electronic health record, and remote reading access, are the same requirements every health system brings to this purchase.
