Barracuda Message Archiver handles compliance retention and eDiscovery, sitting inside the wider Barracuda Email Protection line rather than being sold as a standalone archive.

That packaging is deliberate and reflects how the product is usually bought. A business adopting Barracuda for spam, malware and advanced threat protection already has its mail flowing through Barracuda, so adding archiving is a configuration decision rather than a new integration. Cloud Archiving appears alongside incident response, account takeover protection, domain fraud protection through DMARC, security awareness training, email encryption and Microsoft 365 backup.

Deployment flexibility is unusual for this category. Barracuda offers SaaS deployments with no software or hardware to install, and on premises options using cloud connected appliances or software, which matters for organisations whose retention rules or jurisdiction prevent data leaving their own estate.

Microsoft 365 is treated as a first class target, with protection spanning email, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams data. The managed service provider route is well developed, with dedicated data protection, managed XDR, RMM and application protection offerings for MSPs, which is how a large share of small business archiving is actually delivered. Rather than a rate card, Barracuda publishes a Build and Price configurator, so no fixed figures are available.
