What is Azure API Management?
Azure API Management is Microsoft's hybrid, multicloud platform for publishing, securing, and monitoring APIs, made up of an API gateway, a management plane, and a developer portal. The gateway supports REST, GraphQL, WebSocket, and OData APIs with authentication, rate limiting, caching, and routing, while a self-hosted gateway option allows deployment outside Azure in hybrid or multicloud environments.
Azure API Management is offered across a Consumption serverless tier billed per call, classic Developer/Basic/Standard/Premium tiers, and newer Basic v2/Standard v2 tiers with a lower entry price and built-in virtual network support.
