How to Change Your Birthday on Snapchat

How to Change Your Birthday on Snapchat

You change your birthday on Snapchat in Settings, under My Account, then Birthday. Snapchat allows only a limited number of changes. It also locks the field completely if the birthday currently on the account makes you under 18. The steps and rules below follow Snapchat’s own support article, checked in October 2026.

How to change your birthday on Snapchat

  1. Open your Profile and tap the gear icon to open Settings.
  2. In the Shortcuts section, tap My Account.
  3. Under Change My Info, tap Birthday.
  4. Scroll the calendar wheel to the correct date.
  5. Tap Continue to save it.

The path is the same on iPhone and Android. If your Settings screen has no Shortcuts section, update the app first. Snapchat moves menu labels between versions, and older guides that start from the Bitmoji icon describe a layout the app no longer uses.

Why Snapchat won’t let you change your birthday

Two rules block a change, and the app does not always say which one you hit.

  • You have reached the change limit. Snapchat caps how many times a birthday can be edited and does not publish the number. The error “Hey, Time Traveler” means the limit is reached, and the date cannot be changed again from the app.
  • Your current birthday makes you under 18. If the date on the account says you are a minor, the Birthday field stays locked, even when that date is wrong.

Snapchat Support states that it usually cannot change a birthday on your behalf, so a support ticket rarely gets around either rule.

What to do if you have hit the limit

  • Check which rule applies. The “Hey, Time Traveler” message means the edit limit. A greyed-out or missing Birthday option on an account that reads as under 18 is the age lock.
  • Stop retrying. Repeated attempts do not reset the counter.
  • Contact Snapchat Support only if the wrong age is blocking a feature you need. Use the support site, explain that the stored date is incorrect, and expect that they may still decline.

How to stop friends seeing your birthday

Whether friends are told about your birthday is controlled by the Birthday Party option on the same Birthday screen in Settings. With it on, friends see a cake next to your name on the day. Turn it off and they are not shown your birthday, while the date stays stored on your account.

Questions about Snapchat birthdays

How many times can you change your birthday on Snapchat?

Snapchat says only that the number is limited and does not publish it. You know you have reached it when the app shows “Hey, Time Traveler”.

Can Snapchat Support change my birthday for me?

In most cases, no. Snapchat’s help centre says support usually cannot make the change on a user’s behalf.

Why is the Birthday option locked?

Either the change limit has been reached or the birthday on the account puts you under 18. Both lock the field.

Is the process different on iPhone and Android?

No. Settings, then My Account, then Birthday works on both.
