Visage Imaging provides enterprise imaging and PACS built on a server-side rendering architecture that streams images to the viewer rather than transferring whole studies, aimed at academic medical centres and large health systems.

Streaming rather than downloading is the architectural decision the product is built on and its consequence is felt at every workstation. A modern computed tomography study can run to thousands of images, and a PACS that copies the whole study to the reading workstation makes a radiologist wait; rendering server-side and sending only the current view removes that wait regardless of study size.

That also changes where a radiologist can read, since a thin client needing only a network connection rather than a specialist workstation makes reading from home practical at full diagnostic quality, which moved from a convenience to a requirement over the past few years.

Academic medical centres are the segment this suits most, because they generate the largest studies, run the most advanced imaging and have radiologists distributed across teaching and clinical sites, which is precisely where the architecture pays off.
