Swimlane provides security automation covering phishing and endpoint alert triage inside the SOC, and vulnerability management, compliance audit, insider threat, secure employee offboarding and fraud prevention outside it. It is sold by challenge, covering alert fatigue, siloed tooling and measuring operational effectiveness, across managed service providers, financial services, healthcare, energy, government and education.

Automating work outside the SOC is the distinguishing scope and the reasoning is sound. The tasks that consume a security team's time are frequently not investigations at all: chasing patch status, gathering audit evidence and removing a departing employee's access are repetitive, deadline-driven and consequential when missed. They are also better suited to automation than judgement-heavy work.

Secure offboarding is the clearest example. It requires touching many systems in a defined order within a defined window, nobody enjoys it, and doing it incompletely leaves credentials active for someone who has left.

Measuring the effectiveness of security operations is the harder capability and the one buyers should probe. Automation platforms generate impressive activity counts, and the useful question is whether outcomes improved rather than whether more actions occurred.
