What is Software AG webMethods?

webMethods is an API management and hybrid integration platform originally developed by Software AG, covering API gateway, developer portal, API design, and runtime governance for REST, SOAP and OData APIs. In July 2024 IBM completed its acquisition of the webMethods and StreamSets business from Software AG for about 2.13 billion euros, and the product is now sold and supported as IBM webMethods; the original softwareag.com API product page no longer resolves.

IBM prices the broader webMethods Hybrid Integration suite, which includes API Management, application integration, B2B, managed file transfer and event streaming, using a shared credit model. The SaaS Standard Tier starts at $2,565 per month with unlimited connectors, users, and API definitions included, a free trial is available, and custom or perpetual on-premises licensing is still sold through IBM and its partners.
