Self storage customers skew toward people in transition: moving house, downsizing, dealing with a bereavement or a divorce, or running a small business from a unit. Without an automated option, those payments are taken by staff, which at an unattended facility means they are not taken at all until somebody calls back. Walkthroughs and work orders address the physical discipline that separates well-run facilities from poorly run ones. Units must be checked for damage, damp, unauthorised occupation and overlocks, and doing that on a schedule with a record is what prevents disputes about the condition of a unit and its contents.

Power BI as the reporting layer rather than a proprietary one is a pragmatic choice, since operators with analysts already have those skills and can build what they need rather than requesting reports.
