PTC Vuforia Expert Capture

Vuforia Expert Capture is PTC's software as a service augmented reality product for creating and delivering interactive work instructions. It records an expert performing a task, combines that with 3D CAD data, and publishes the result as step by step guidance with AI enhanced inspection for frontline workers.

Capturing rather than authoring is the point, and it addresses why most work instruction projects stall. Writing instructions is a documentation exercise that competes for the time of the most experienced person on site, which is exactly who cannot be spared. Recording that person doing the job once, then turning the recording into structured steps, moves the cost from their calendar to the software.

Using 3D CAD is the part a general video tool cannot copy. PTC already holds the engineering model in its own design products, so an instruction can point at the actual component in three dimensions rather than at a photograph of it, which matters when the difference between two fasteners is the whole instruction.

Capturing quality issues in real time from the factory or the field closes the loop the other way, feeding what goes wrong back into product and process rather than only pushing instructions outward, so the same capture that trains a worker can also improve the thing being built.
