Optitex

Optitex is 2D and 3D CAD/CAM software for pattern design, and its range beyond apparel is the first thing that distinguishes it. Alongside fashion it addresses automotive, upholstery, bags and accessories, with dedicated bundles for fashion and apparel and for automotive and furniture. Those industries all cut shaped pieces from roll goods, so the underlying pattern, marker and cutting problems are shared, but few vendors package for both.

The product set covers the full path from design to cut. 2D and 3D Pattern Design Software is the core. A 3D Design plugin for Adobe Illustrator lets designers work in the tool they already use rather than learning a CAD environment. Sketch handles concept work and Fill supports fabric and print application. Marker addresses the economics directly: marker efficiency determines how much fabric a garment consumes, and a small percentage improvement compounds across a production run into real money. Print and Cut plus CutPlan cover the cutting room, and Fabric Management tracks material.

O/Cloud provides cloud capability across the workflow. Services are extensive and reflect that CAD adoption is a skills problem as much as a software one: consultation, proof of concept, training, mentoring, a 3D Studio and ongoing technical support. Proof of concept is worth taking up, since pattern software is judged on whether it handles your own blocks and grading rules rather than on demonstrations.
