Tracking the weapon after it leaves the building is what distinguishes this from conventional armoury software. Most systems in this category record an issue and a return and know nothing in between, which is precisely the interval that matters. NexGenIOT places a GPS tracker on the firearm and reports real-time position, shots fired, removal from the holster and separation of the weapon from the individual carrying it. Separation detection in particular is a serious safety signal rather than an inventory one.

The company is explicit that legacy tracking systems lack accurate audit trails and continuous monitoring, and that this creates security gaps across armoury operations. That is a fair criticism of periodic reconciliation as a method: a count taken weekly tells you a weapon went missing sometime in the last seven days, which is rarely useful.

Armoury management covers the authorisation process, equipment check-out, chain of custody, inventory management and maintenance tracking, secured with RFID and barcode identification. Intelligent cabinets combine RFID with GSM and GPS in the storage furniture itself, so the cabinet knows its own contents rather than relying on someone recording a withdrawal.
