Igloo Vision builds shared immersive spaces, and the company's own description captures exactly what distinguishes it: stepping into an Igloo immersive space is a bit like stepping into a giant virtual reality headset, except you can get whole groups inside, so it is always a shared experience.

That is a genuinely different proposition from headset-based VR. A headset isolates each person inside their own view, which is fine for individual training but unworkable for a design review or a planning meeting where the point is that everyone sees the same thing and can argue about it. An Igloo space puts the group inside the content together.

The platform is content-agnostic: practically any type of digital content can be displayed and engaged with inside the space, so an organisation is not restricted to purpose-built VR assets and can bring the models, data and applications it already has.

Igloo names four uses adopted by organisations worldwide: visualisation, simulation, engagement and collaboration. A published customer account gives the clearest measure of the value. Working with planners on how buildings related to each other previously took six to eight weeks to agree building heights; using the immersive space, they report agreeing the same point in five minutes. That is a decision-speed argument rather than a visual one, and it explains why the buyers are typically architecture, construction and planning organisations rather than entertainment.
