Freshop builds ecommerce software for grocery and specialty retail, and is now part of NCR Voyix, which its own site reflects in referring to NCR Voyix Freshop customers. The platform provides full digital engagement for grocers, covering mobile, fulfilment and delivery rather than storefront alone.

The core proposition is letting a grocery store serve customers beyond its physical location. Shoppers use a multi-channel experience across desktop and laptop computers, tablets and mobile phones, and the platform is tailored specifically to the grocery and beverage industries rather than adapted from general retail ecommerce. That distinction matters because grocery carries problems general ecommerce does not: large baskets of low-value perishable items, substitutions, and weight-based pricing.

Fulfilment covers both models grocers actually run. Customers can order online for pickup at the store, or have the order brought directly to their homes, so a retailer can start with click and collect and add delivery later rather than committing to one from the outset.

Branding is treated as a requirement rather than an option, with tools to thread a store's own brand through the online experience. For an independent grocer competing against national chains and delivery marketplaces, keeping the customer relationship under its own name is often the whole reason for building an online channel rather than listing on someone else's.
