Barracuda CloudGen Firewall

Barracuda CloudGen Firewall is the network protection product in Barracuda's security portfolio, providing firewalling for distributed sites and cloud connected networks. It sits within BarracudaONE alongside email protection, data protection, managed detection and response, and application protection.

Distributed deployment is what the product is shaped around. An organisation with many branch sites faces a different problem from one defending a single data centre, because each site needs protection, connectivity back to the core and central management, and doing that with individually configured appliances does not scale past a handful of locations. Central policy management across many firewalls is what makes a large site count administrable.

Cloud connectivity extends the same idea to workloads that no longer sit in any office, letting the firewall estate span physical sites and cloud environments under one policy rather than treating cloud as a separate security domain with separate rules.

Being part of a wider platform matters to how it is bought. Organisations already using Barracuda for email or backup gain a single vendor relationship and shared management, which is the consolidation argument that drives much of this market. The firewall is also widely sold through managed service providers, with tooling aimed at that channel.
