Selling car parts requires stating which vehicles a part fits, and that is not a simple attribute. A single brake pad may fit several hundred combinations of make, model, year, engine, trim and sometimes production date range. Marketplaces enforce fitment data because a customer receiving a part that does not fit their car returns it, and returns in this category are both frequent and expensive.
