What is FileHandler Enterprise?

FileHandler Enterprise is claims management software from JW Software, published alongside PolicyHandler Enterprise for policy administration, with software training, project implementation and maintenance offered as named services.

Publishing training, implementation and maintenance as distinct services rather than folding them into the licence is more honest than it might appear, and it reflects how these projects actually run. Claims administration software replaces a system holding years of open claims, some of which will remain open for years more, and the migration is the difficult part rather than the software selection.

Long-tail claims are what makes that migration hard. A liability claim opened today may not close for a decade, which means the new system must carry forward not just the claim record but its financial history, reserve changes, payment record and correspondence, in a form that will still satisfy an auditor or a court years later.

Training being named separately reflects the other reality of this software: claims adjusters use it all day, every day, and their productivity is determined by how well they know it. A poorly trained adjuster is slower on every claim they touch, and the cost of that compounds across a caseload.

Selling FileHandler alongside PolicyHandler means a carrier or third-party administrator can run policy and claims from one supplier, which matters because the two systems must agree on coverage: whether a claim is covered depends on what the policy said at the date of loss, and reconciling that across two vendors' systems is a recurring source of dispute.

Third-party vendor integrations, white papers and case studies are published. Pricing is not published.

Because the system being replaced holds years of open claims, some of which stay open for years more. Selecting software is easier than moving that history intact.

A liability claim opened today may not close for a decade. The new system must carry the claim record, financial history, reserve changes, payments and correspondence in a form that satisfies an auditor or court years later.

Because adjusters use this software all day and their productivity depends on knowing it well. A poorly trained adjuster is slower on every claim, and that cost compounds across a caseload.

Because whether a claim is covered depends on what the policy said at the date of loss. Reconciling that across two vendors' systems is a recurring source of dispute and manual checking.
