Hubdoc

Hubdoc collects financial documents by mobile photo, email, scan or upload, reads the key information from bills and receipts, and turns it into usable data. Supplier names, amounts, invoice numbers and due dates are extracted so a transaction can be created in Xero or QuickBooks Online with the source document attached, and an accountant can be granted access to the whole set directly.

Attaching the source document to the transaction is the detail that matters most and it is easy to underrate. When a figure is queried months later, by an auditor or by the business owner, the evidence is on the record rather than in a shoebox, which is the difference between answering a question and reconstructing a year.

Data entry is the work being removed, and it is the least valuable thing a bookkeeper does. Reading a supplier name and an amount off a receipt requires no judgement, and automating it moves the same hours toward work that does.

Granting an accountant access directly is the workflow improvement for the practice relationship. Documents stop travelling by email attachment, which removes both the chasing and the version confusion that comes with it. For a practice handling many clients that is the difference between a month-end that runs and one that stalls waiting on paperwork.
