What is Nutanix Prism?

Nutanix Prism monitors and manages virtual machines, storage and networks across on-premises clusters and public clouds from a single console.

Spanning both is the architecturally significant part. Hybrid estates are normally managed through separate tools per environment, so an operator holds two mental models and reconciles them manually, and capacity questions spanning on-premises and cloud cannot be answered at all without exporting from both and combining them in a spreadsheet.

Multi-cluster management with high availability and a scale-out architecture is what makes the single console credible at size. A management plane that itself becomes a bottleneck or a single point of failure defeats the purpose, since the tool used to diagnose an outage cannot be part of it.

Security is built into the platform rather than added, with native encryption, backup and restore options and role based access control supporting enterprise compliance and resilience. Flexible deployment sizing scales VM configurations from x-small to x-large to fit different environments, which matters for capacity planning because right-sizing is where reclaimable waste usually hides. Effortless setup is emphasised throughout, consistent with Nutanix's wider positioning on operational simplicity in hyperconverged infrastructure. Pricing is not published.

Nutanix Prism FAQs

Nutanix does not publish rates. Prism is licensed alongside the Nutanix platform, quoted on nodes or cores with editions differing in feature depth.

Hybrid estates are normally managed through separate tools, so operators hold two mental models and capacity questions spanning both cannot be answered without exporting and combining in a spreadsheet.

Prism uses a scale-out architecture with high availability specifically to avoid that, since a tool used to diagnose an outage cannot be part of the outage.

Native encryption, backup and restore options and role based access control, supporting enterprise compliance and resilience without bolting on separate products.

Configurations run from x-small to x-large so machines can be right-sized to their environment, which is where reclaimable waste usually hides in a virtual estate.
