EthosCE is a learning management platform built specifically for continuing education and continuing medical education, serving associations, continuing education providers and medical education organisations.

Continuing medical education is a genuinely distinct discipline rather than corporate training applied to clinicians, and the differences are structural. Credit must be awarded and reported to accrediting bodies in specific formats. Activities are certified in advance and must run as certified. Commercial support and conflict of interest disclosure carry formal requirements. Learners frequently need transcripts spanning years to prove licence maintenance. None of this exists in corporate learning, and general LMS products handle it by adding fields.

The published activity types reflect that specialism precisely: course bundles, RSS which is regularly scheduled series covering recurring activities such as grand rounds, and virtual learning. Regularly scheduled series are a particular headache in this field because credit accrues per session across a year with varying attendance, and tracking it properly is not something a general LMS attempts.

Audiences are addressed separately for leadership, CME coordinators and directors, and learners, which reflects that the person administering accreditation and the person taking the course have almost nothing in common in what they need from the system.

The published emphasis on learner market intelligence to build programmes that sell points at the commercial reality for associations: continuing education is frequently a revenue line rather than a cost centre, and knowing which programmes learners will pay for determines whether the department funds itself.
