Commvault provides the Commvault Cloud platform, bringing backup, recovery and cyber resilience together for enterprise estates spanning on premises systems, cloud workloads and software as a service applications. The company is publicly listed and reports quarterly, which is unusual transparency in this market.

Framing the product as resilience rather than backup reflects where the threat moved. Backup was designed for hardware failure and human error, both of which are accidental and leave the backups themselves untouched. Ransomware is deliberate and specifically targets backups first, because an attacker who cannot destroy the recovery path cannot extract payment. That changes the requirement from copying data to protecting the copies from a motivated adversary.

Recovery readiness follows from the same shift. After an attack the question is not whether backups exist but how quickly a clean environment can be reconstituted and whether the restored data is free of the attacker's presence. Restoring reinfected systems is a real and expensive failure mode.

Unified coverage across an enterprise estate matters because attackers exploit the seams. A workload protected by a tool nobody has reviewed in two years is precisely where an incident becomes unrecoverable.
