Kno2 provides healthcare interoperability, enabling providers to exchange patient documents and records regardless of the systems each side runs. It has partnered with Redox on healthcare data exchange and pledged to become a CMS aligned network.

Interoperability in healthcare is a network problem rather than a technical one. The standards for exchanging clinical documents have existed for years, and the reason a hospital still faxes a discharge summary to a nursing home is that the nursing home is not reachable electronically. Connecting the long tail of small providers, post acute facilities, behavioural health practices and community organisations is the actual work, and it does not scale by writing more software.

That is why network membership is what a buyer is really acquiring. The value of joining is proportional to who else is already there, which is why partnership announcements and network alignment matter more in this market than feature comparisons.

CMS alignment reflects United States federal policy pushing interoperability through the programmes that pay for care. A network aligned with those requirements lets its members satisfy obligations they carry regardless, which converts interoperability from an aspiration into a compliance route.
