What is Foursquare Studio?

Foursquare Studio is the mapping and analytics workspace inside Foursquare's Geospatial Intelligence Platform, and understanding where it sits in that platform is necessary before evaluating it, since Foursquare sells several products to different audiences from the same underlying place data.

The Geospatial Intelligence Platform comprises Spatial Workbench for business intelligence teams, Spatial H3 Hub providing H3-indexed features for data scientists, Spatial Desktop for geospatial computing on a local machine, and Studio itself as the mapping and analytics workspace. The H3 Hub deserves note because H3 is the hexagonal spatial indexing system that has become a common standard for aggregating location data, and providing pre-indexed features saves work that data teams otherwise repeat on every project.

Alongside the platform, the marketer products cover attribution for measuring advertising impact, audience targeting for in-market consumers and real-time custom geofencing. The developer products cover a Dev Console, Places API for accurate place data, and a Movement SDK for location-aware app experiences. Places Data is sold on its own as precise point of interest data, with an open-source option and business listings management.

Attribution is the capability with the clearest commercial logic. Measuring whether people who saw an advertisement subsequently visited a physical location closes the loop that digital advertising has always struggled with offline, and it requires exactly the visitation data Foursquare has spent years building.

Desktop pricing is published in three tiers: Basic at $0 per month through 2026, a Standard tier, and Pro at $100 per month. AI analysis is charged separately per analysis, at $0.42 for a simple analysis and $2.52 for a complex one, with underlying token rates published. Per-analysis pricing is unusual and makes cost predictable per question asked rather than per seat.
