What is Solar2D?
Solar2D is a free, open-source 2D game engine forked from the discontinued Corona SDK and maintained by a community led by Vlad Shcherban, Corona's former technical lead engineer. Games are scripted in Lua and can target iOS, tvOS, Android, Android TV, macOS, Windows, Linux, and HTML5 from one codebase. An instant-update Simulator shows code and asset changes in real time, and the engine includes Box2D physics, a particle engine, and a plugin system for ads, analytics, and other extensions.
There are no paid tiers, fees, or royalties of any kind; Solar2D is entirely free for indie developers and large publishers alike, and all source code is available under the MIT license. The project also states it does not track users or make unnecessary server calls.
