ShelbyNext is the church software line from Shelby Systems, covering membership management, church websites built from custom sites or theme builders, worship planning, background checks and HeadQuarters, described as a premium financial solution. A Total Ministry package bundles the products together, and Shelby Services provides accounting for churches, ministries and non-profits.

Accounting is where this line differs from most of its competitors, and it reflects where Shelby Systems came from. Many church platforms begin with giving or engagement and add a ledger later, or never. Shelby's fund accounting heritage means the financial side is the mature part and the app experience is the newer one, which is the opposite of how a church app first vendor is built.

That matters when choosing, because the two answer different questions. A church whose real problem is a treasurer maintaining restricted funds across designated giving in a spreadsheet needs the accounting to be right first. A church whose problem is that nobody opens its emails does not.

Background checks bundled in reflects a requirement rather than a convenience, since churches running children's and youth ministry are obliged to screen volunteers and typically buy that separately.
