What is Lucidspark?

Lucidspark is the virtual whiteboarding product within the Lucid Suite, published alongside Lucidchart for diagramming and airfocus for product management and roadmapping, with suite add-ons including Cloud Accelerator for understanding and planning cloud infrastructure changes, Process Accelerator for standardising process documentation governance, and Enterprise Shield for enhanced security.

Sitting inside a suite alongside a diagramming product is the structural advantage, and it addresses a transition that otherwise breaks.

Collaborative work has two distinct phases that need different tools. Ideation is loose: sticky notes, rough grouping, half-formed thoughts, no correctness requirement. Documentation is precise: accurate diagrams, correct notation, something that can be reviewed and relied upon. Most teams do the first on a whiteboard and the second in a diagramming tool, and the transition between them is normally manual re-creation.

That re-creation is where the work is lost. Somebody has to interpret a messy board into a formal diagram days later, decisions get subtly changed in translation, and the original board is abandoned rather than maintained. Having both in one suite means the messy phase can become the formal artefact without starting again.

The Cloud Accelerator add-on is a genuinely specific capability, since importing actual cloud infrastructure into a diagram produces documentation reflecting what exists rather than what somebody remembers building. Infrastructure diagrams are almost always out of date, and the gap between the diagram and reality is where incidents originate.

Process Accelerator addresses governance of process documentation, which matters because processes documented once and never reviewed become misleading rather than merely stale, and people follow them anyway.

Enterprise Shield as a separate security layer reflects that collaborative boards accumulate genuinely sensitive material, including strategy, organisational plans and architecture, usually without anyone classifying it.
