What is UiPath?

UiPath provides a platform for business orchestration and automation, structured in three layers the vendor names as orchestration, execution and governance. Orchestration covers process intelligence and an AI ecosystem, execution covers agentic AI, robotic process automation, APIs and intelligent document processing, and governance covers security, a data fabric, AI trust and deployment.

Separating governance into its own layer rather than treating it as a feature is what distinguishes an enterprise automation platform from a collection of bots. An organisation running thousands of automations against production systems needs to know which ones exist, what credentials they hold and what they changed, and that requirement grows rather than shrinks when the automations start making decisions with a model instead of following a fixed script.
