SmartPM

SmartPM is construction project controls software that analyses schedules automatically, positioned around reporting and controls rather than around scheduling itself, and used by general contractors, construction management firms, owners and developers, and government.

The distinction between scheduling and project controls is the whole point of the product. Scheduling software helps a planner build a programme; project controls software tells everyone else whether that programme is credible and whether the project is tracking to it. Those are different jobs done by different people, and an owner or developer receiving a monthly schedule update from a contractor has no practical way to interrogate it without either a project controls consultant or a tool that does the analysis automatically.

That explains the customer split. General contractors use it to understand their own position, while owners and developers use it to assess what they are being told, and government adds the procurement accountability layer on top. A product serving both sides of that relationship has to produce analysis both will accept, which pushes toward objective schedule metrics rather than narrative reporting.

The product is organised as Controls, Essentials, Reporting and Integrations, with integrations mattering because schedules arrive from Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project rather than being authored in SmartPM. A partnership programme and a network of certified consultants extend delivery, and customer stories, case studies, reports and guides, webinars and a SmartPM Bootcamp make up the education side. Bootcamp and certified consultants together suggest project controls analysis still needs interpretation, which is an honest position. Pricing is not published.
