Sifted automates the parts of parcel spend management that shippers usually do manually or not at all. Every carrier invoice is analysed automatically, savings opportunities are surfaced and money owed is recovered without the shipper's team touching the process.

The audit function goes beyond refund claims. Contract compliance is validated on every charge, so a carrier billing outside agreed terms is caught rather than absorbed, and invalid surcharges are identified and filed. Surcharges are where much of the discrepancy in modern parcel billing sits, and they are difficult to police by sampling.

Carrier change monitoring is the capability that distinguishes Sifted from pure audit tools. The company notes that carriers make more than 30 changes a year, and monitors the impact of each on a shipper's specific profile so costs can be addressed before they creep. That includes general rate increase impact analysis within days of an announcement, contract tier monitoring so a shipper does not slip a tier unnoticed, re rating of carrier proposals against actual data, and service type and carrier mix optimisation.
