AWS IoT SiteWise

AWS IoT SiteWise is a managed service for collecting, storing, organising and monitoring data from industrial equipment at scale. Being managed is the central point: AWS operates the ingestion and storage infrastructure, so an industrial team does not build and maintain a data platform to get at its own equipment data.

The organising function is what separates SiteWise from generic data ingestion. Industrial data arrives as streams of tag values that mean nothing without context, and SiteWise models equipment hierarchies so a measurement is understood as belonging to a specific machine, in a specific line, at a specific site. Without that structure, comparing performance across plants is essentially impossible.

Because it is an AWS service, the surrounding ecosystem is the practical argument for it. Equipment data lands where analytics, machine learning and storage services already run, under the same identity and access management controls as the rest of an organisation's AWS estate.

AWS publishes per service rates on its pricing pages, charged by ingestion, storage, processing and query volume rather than a flat subscription.
