What is Trend Micro Deep Security?

Deep Security is Trend Micro's server and workload protection product for physical, virtual, cloud and container environments, providing anti-malware, intrusion prevention, integrity monitoring, log inspection and application control from a single agent. It is now presented within the wider Trend Vision One platform alongside the company's TrendAI security work.

Virtual patching through intrusion prevention is the capability that made this product what it is, and it addresses a scheduling problem rather than a technical one. A vulnerability is disclosed and a patch released, but a production server cannot be rebooted until a change window weeks away, leaving a known exploitable gap. Shielding the vulnerability at the network layer closes that gap immediately without touching the application.

Running one agent across physical, virtual and cloud workloads matters because most enterprises are permanently mid-migration. An estate is never entirely on premises or entirely in cloud, and separate tooling for each produces two consoles and two sets of policy that inevitably disagree.

Buyers should note the naming. The Deep Security name persists in documentation and community material while the current platform is Vision One, so searching either will find material describing the same capability at different points in its life.
