Snap Lens Studio

Lens Studio is Snap's free augmented reality development platform, powering Lenses across Snapchat, AR ads, mobile and web applications through Camera Kit, and the Spectacles AR glasses, with a GenAI Suite for creating machine learning models and 2D and 3D assets from text or image prompts.

Distribution is the reason to choose this over a general purpose AR framework, and it is a decisive one for consumer work. A Lens built in Lens Studio is published into Snapchat where an audience already exists, which is a completely different proposition from building an AR app and then having to persuade anyone to install it. Camera Kit exists for the opposite direction, bringing Lenses into a company's own iOS, Android and web apps.

The GenAI Suite addresses the actual bottleneck in AR content, which has never been the tracking.
