What is Magaya?

Magaya provides a supply chain software platform, with Magaya Supply Chain covering shipping, receiving, warehousing and freight forwarding workflows, and Magaya Customs Compliance handling customs filings from the cloud.

Separating customs compliance into its own product is a sensible division, because it is the part of the business with a different risk profile and a different rate of change. Forwarding workflows change when the business changes; customs regulations change when governments decide they do, on their own schedule and without regard to whether a forwarder is ready.

The vendor's framing of adapting to changing regulatory requirements is the substantive claim, and it is the right thing to buy in this area. A customs system is not primarily valued for what it does today but for whether it will still be correct after the next rule change, and a forwarder using out-of-date classification or documentation rules is filing wrong declarations while believing they are compliant.

Combining warehousing with forwarding in the same platform reflects how many forwarders actually operate. A forwarder that also runs a warehouse is holding customers' goods between legs of a journey, and knowing what is physically on the shelf against what the paperwork says is the reconciliation that matters. Running the two in separate systems means that reconciliation is manual.

Cloud delivery for customs filing is more consequential than for the warehouse side, since filings go to government systems that themselves change, and a locally installed system requires the forwarder to apply updates before regulatory changes take effect.

Pricing is not published, which is normal in this category.

Magaya FAQs

No pricing is published. Freight platforms are normally quoted on transaction volume and modules, so establish shipment volume and whether you need customs compliance separately.

Because it has a different risk profile and rate of change. Forwarding workflows change when your business does; customs regulations change when governments decide, regardless of whether you are ready.

Whether it will still be correct after the next rule change. A forwarder using out-of-date classification rules files wrong declarations while believing they are compliant, which is the dangerous failure.

Because many forwarders hold customers' goods between legs of a journey. Knowing what is physically on the shelf against what the paperwork says is the reconciliation that matters, and separate systems make it manual.

Because filings go to government systems that change. A locally installed system requires the forwarder to apply updates before regulatory changes take effect, which introduces a window of non-compliance.
