Freight invoices are wrong at a rate that surprises people outside the industry. Carriers bill from their own records, applying accessorial charges for detention, residential delivery, liftgate use, reweighs and reclassifications, and a meaningful share of those charges are either incorrect or not what was agreed. A shipper receiving hundreds of invoices monthly cannot check each against the quoted rate and the actual service delivered, so the overcharges are simply paid.

Automated auditing compares each invoice against the rate quoted and the shipment as executed, and flags the discrepancies. The recovered amount is a direct, attributable saving, which makes the return on this software easier to demonstrate than on most logistics tools.

Rate shopping addresses the front of the same process, comparing carrier rates for a given shipment rather than defaulting to a habitual carrier. Shippers routinely overpay by using the same carrier out of familiarity when another would be cheaper for that lane and weight.

Dock scheduling handles the receiving end, where uncoordinated arrivals create yard queues and detention charges, which then reappear on the invoices the auditing module is checking.
