What is CoinGate?

CoinGate provides crypto payment acceptance, payouts, a multi currency account, digital asset custody and merchant refunds, alongside a consumer side for buying and selling crypto and a large gift card business. Payment processing is published at a flat 1 percent per transaction with no monthly fee, and the full fee table covers payouts, withdrawals, exchange and refunds.

Publishing every fee, not just the processing rate, is the distinguishing thing here and it exposes what most competitors leave vague. Crypto payouts are listed at 0.50 euro plus 0.5 percent, payouts with conversion at 0.50 euro plus 1.5 percent, SWIFT withdrawals at 0.50 percent, manual currency exchange at 1 percent and a 0.1 percent conversion fee on refunds where the currency differs. A merchant can total its real cost from that table rather than discovering it in a statement, which is the only way to compare this honestly against a card processor.

Holding a regulated custody account is the other substantive point, letting a merchant hold crypto and fiat balances in one place rather than moving funds out to a separate exchange to convert them.

The gift card business is unusual alongside a payments product but consistent with it, since gift cards remain one of the few reliable ways for a consumer to actually spend crypto.
