What is Bytron?

Bytron builds skybook, an aviation flight dispatch and electronic flight bag system covering flight dispatch, crew briefing, operations boards and airfield monitoring. The vendor states it is trusted by more than 130 airlines worldwide.

Briefing is the function everything else supports. Before a flight departs, the crew must receive a package covering route, weather, notices to airmen, fuel and alternates, and it must be current at departure rather than when it was assembled. Producing that reliably and repeatedly, for every flight, is the daily work of a dispatch operation and where errors are most consequential.

The operations board addresses the other half, which is awareness across the fleet rather than depth on one flight. A duty controller needs to see the schedule and where delays are developing, because the response to a delay is usually about the aircraft's next sector rather than the one currently late.

Airfield Watch monitors conditions at the airfields an operator uses, so changes affecting an active flight surface without someone checking each one. Bytron also offers a Ground Portal, extending the same information to ground operations rather than keeping it in the flight deck and dispatch office.

Bytron FAQs

No rate is published. The vendor offers a free demo and quotes per operator, with cost depending on fleet size and modules.

It assembles the package crew receive before departure, covering route, weather, notices to airmen, fuel and alternates, and ensures it is current at departure rather than when it was first put together.

Fleet wide awareness rather than depth on one flight. A duty controller sees the schedule and developing delays, because the response to a delay usually concerns the aircraft's next sector.

Monitoring of conditions at the airfields an operator uses, so changes affecting an active flight surface automatically rather than requiring someone to check each one.

The vendor states more than 130 airlines worldwide, with the platform covering dispatch, briefing, operations and ground functions.
