Microsoft Viva Engage (Yammer)

Viva Engage connects everyone in an organisation through employee communities and conversations, and it is the product formerly known as Yammer. The rename placed it inside the Viva family alongside Microsoft's other employee experience products rather than standing as a separate network.

The distinction from team chat is the one that matters and it is frequently missed. Chat tools work well within a team that already talks daily, whereas this category exists for conversation between people who do not know each other, across departments and locations, where the value is somebody in another division answering a question the asker did not know who to ask.

Leadership communication is the use that most often justifies the purchase. An announcement that can be replied to publicly is a different act from one broadcast by email, and organisations that want the appearance of openness without the substance discover quickly that an unused network is more visible than no network at all.

Pricing is published within the Viva family, with Employee Communications and Communities starting from two dollars per user per month, Workplace Analytics and Employee Feedback from six dollars, a learning component at four dollars per user per month paid annually, and the full Viva Suite from twelve dollars.
